- Shubham and Comfort take DCC top
A table top clash saw Dawnheights take on East Coast at the Siripat grounds. East Coast elected to bowl on a stop start rainy morning. Suveer Dewlal proved to be an excellent partner to the explosive, big hitting Shubham Choudhary as he hit the opening bowler out the attack with four massive 6’s in the third over, and soon racked up his half century in the sixth over of the innings. A few breaks for rain broke the momentum and concentration as a few wickets fell in quick succession. Shubham departed on 76 (41 balls) as he tried to turn the ball to retain the strike. Raj Verma (32) and Yusuf Banda (30) together with the middle and lower order took the score to 213 all out.
East Coast began brightly as the skies cleared up. They made full use of the good conditions as they quickly raced past the 50 mark despite the loss of their opener to Ntuli in the 3rd over. Shubham came into the attack after power play and was attacked with 2 boundaries. He had the last word in the battle as he bowled the number 3 batsmen off the 6th ball. A few fielding blunders saw East Coast reach 125 before the Dawnheights players got their act together with some excellent fielding that left lower order exposed. Captain, Comfort Shange brought himself back on and blew the batsmen away with his line and pace as he closed out the game with his 4 wicket, ending with figures of 7.2 overs, 17 runs and 4 wickets. The Man of the Match was shared by Comfort and Shubham.
An excellent team performance saw Dawnheights maintain their perfect, unbeaten start to the season with theirĀ third successive table topping bonus point win.
