Raj Mesmerises Newlands

Dawnheights welcomed Newlands to a hot and steamy Gledhow ground.  The visitors won the toss and elected to put Dawnheights to field in the sweltering conditions.  After the early loss of their opener to Shubham Choudhary, the 2nd wicket partnership seemed to validate their decision to bat first as the score quickly reached 52/1 as the batsmen seemed to feast on the medium pace bowling.  The introduction of Raj Verma saw a change of pace.  He quickly got into the action as he spun a web around the batsmen.  Wickets continued tumbling at regular intervals as Avishkar Ramduth chipping in with 2 wickets.  Newlands brought up the 100 runs with 9 wickets down.  Raj then brought the innings to a close in the 31st over with his 6th of the innings with their score on 103.  Dawnheights started their chase well before the designated lunch break and were soon in a slight quandry as their opener was out LBW in the 1st over and was soon followed by fellow opener who was run out after a mix-up.  Shubham Choudhary (demoted due to an ankle injury), strode to the crease and made his presence felt by dispatching the 1st ball to the boundary.  Some aggressive batting followed as he raced to 41 (4 sixes) before he was caught.  Captain Comfort joined Raj at the crease and ensured that Dawnheights cross the line with 5 wickets down.  The bonus point victory ensured that Dawnheights kept their impressive home record of being unbeaten alive.
