Newlands won the toss and chose to bat thereby putting Dawnheights in the field on a blistering day. After a cautious but steady young Sheldon gave DCC the breakthrough and quickly doubled his scalps. Wickets kept coming for DCC at regular intervals with the introduction of Raj Verma and Ishan Kaliah. Ishan bagged 3 scalps, A last wicket stand of 40 runs saw Newlands cross the 100 run mark. Raj brought the innings closed with his 4th scalp thereby setting DCC a target of 121. DCC got off to an inauspicious start losing Wasim Suleiman early on and that brought Avishkar to the crease. Together with opener Suveer Hanuman, the duo put on a 60 run stand to put their team on the verge of victory. With the departure of Avishkar, who ended with a patient and well timed 45, Ishan was brought to the crease. He then dutifuly brought the innings to a close with 3 massive 6’s of consecutive deliveries. A convincing bonus point win for the new year for Dawnheights!
