Skipper Avishkar Ramduth and Raj VermaOpeners Surav and Lucky were kept quiet as the Lindelani opening bowlers used a slow pitch to good advantage after Dawnheights won the toss and elected to bat despite the wicket being covered. The dawnheights batsmen never really got on top of the pitch as they trudged along. Lucky was dismissed after he was kept off strike. The DCC batsmen kept their cool in blistering morning heat and continued to build their innings, albeit at a slow pace. Comfort and Harry combined at the backend of the innings and helped Dawnheights to reach 113 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. In their reply Lindelani openers played some aggressive cricket. They seemed to be getting the upperhand. But the tide slowly swung in DCC’s favour with the loss of their opener and slowly frustrated the Lindelani batsmen into playing some ‘adventurous’ shots which resulted in them losing wickets at regular intervals. Comfort Shange was in fine form in wrapping up the Lindelani innings at 88 all out thus giving Dawnheights their first win of the day. DCC had no time to celebratre as they travelled to toingaat to take n Tongaat in their second atch of the day.
Dawnheightswon the toss and elected to bowl on a slightly sticky pitch and that decision paid huge dividends as a superb fielding performance helped Dawnheights reduce Tongaat to 36 for 4 in the 6th over. Unorthodox and aggressive batting resulted in boundaries being scored but crucially allowed DCC to take wickets at regular intervals thus stifling their run-rate. A good last over helped Tongaat reach a paltry 66 runs at the end of their 20 overs. Skipper Aviskar Ramduth helped himself to 3 wickets for 9 runs in his allotted 4 overs. In their reply, Xolani and Lucky batted warily but steadily in the first few overs. Their sound start came to an end when Xolani was run out after a slip. Man of match Rajen (Harry) Naidoo was promoted in the batting lineup. With inclement weather approaching, Harry played some powerful cricket shots in reaching the boundaries which had a positive effect on the scoring rate. In the 12th over Harry hit the winning runs thus sealing an emphatic victory and an impressive double win for the day.
